theFlash, seems like he talks a big game, gets off to a fast start, but fails to deliver in the end.  Because theFlash can’t deliver on his word, I’m going to take over where he left off.  COME ON FLASH, we have fans all over the world who long to read about your AL East preview, what do you call it after the season starts?  Cole, stationed at Pearl Harbor, wakes up ever day to see if you’ve posted the AL East preview, and every night he goes to bed disappointed.  I CAN NOT continue to disappoint my 8 readers.

The Twins looked good tonight. The fielding looked good, Neshek looked good, Nathan looked good (seems to have gotten control over his Tourettes, good for him), Hunter looked terrible.  The Twins got 10 hits, even Punto could have gotten one……

AL Predictions:

*Disclaimer: I took last place in the NCAA bracket, so there is really no reason for me to make sporting predictions.

After reading this, please leave a comment. I want to see how many comments I can’t get. If I get very few comments, I will delete this line and pretend it never existed. Thank you.

Earth Hour is an international event that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour.  The first Earth Hour was held in Sydney, Australia between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on 31 March 2007. The 2007 Earth Hour is estimated to have cut Sydney’s main electricity consumption by between 2.1% and 10.2% for that hour, with as many as 2.2 million people taking part.  This year, it occurs on March 29th at 8pm (your 8pm).  I’m usually not a tree hugging hippie douche, but I signed up and plan to turn off all my lights and unplug unnecessary electronics for at least an hour.  My readers, all 7 of you, should do the same.  Thanks all.

While theFlash was giddy for the new season of The Hills to start last night, I really wasn’t feeling this new season.  We already know that Lauren hates Brody, Whitney and Lauren leave Teen Vogue, and Spencer and Heidi are still together.  What can the season show that we don’t know already.

The curveball that we didn’t see coming was the ultra-risqué photos featuring Audrina Patridge.  Wow.  Really. Here’s what I thought about the photos:

1. Audrina had an amazing body.  The photos were taken when she was only 19, and she looked much better then.  But now, she is too skinny.  She needs to get some curve back. But when you’re a ’star’ on a ‘hit’ reality show, the last thing you are going to let yourself do is gain weight.

2. Her lazy-eye doesn’t seem as bad in the photos.  It’s unknown whether she has a lazy-eye, glass eye, was slapped around so much that her eyes dont move together, or if she is always high.  But it’s less noticable in these photos.  It could be because her eyes aren’t the focal point of the photos.

3. She, just like Lauren and Whitney and Lo and Heidi, is a moron.  She comes from a wealthy LA family, and straight out of high school does nude modeling.  I’m sure these photos will only help her career, but it’s so sad.  It’s odd how these photos were ‘leaked’ so closely to the season premiere of The Hills.  Wouldn’t be surprised if Audrina, Lauren, MTV, Lauren’s Dad, or Spencer had anything to do with that.

4. Some of these photos reminded me of the episode when Brody had a beach party and Audrina sported the thong bikini.  Seemed like an odd wardrobe choice.  I say that to say this, homeboy wore boots to the beach that episode.

5. After seeing these photos, WHY WOULD JUSTIN BOBBY F THINGS UP WITH AUDRINA!?!?!  He appears to be the biggest moron from the group.

6. Where is Justin Bobby?

Alright, that’s enough.  If you want to see the pics, go find them yourself.  Not Safe For Work.

Now, which picture is better?

Zubaz are back!!

285450210_907700e7ef.jpg

Great article today in the Star Tribune that talks about the rise and fall of Zubaz in the early ’90’s and their triumphant return 20 years later.  I really want to get the purple ones and stitch on a Vikings logo, but that idea has already been nixed by the GF….I find it amazing how much most girls HATE Zubaz.  Why is this?  Please comment if you are a lady.  Growing up I had a Timberwolves pair and a Vikings pair; my mom must have thrown them out because I have no idea what happened to them.

PS I have no idea who that guy is in the picture above, but the thumbs up worked perfectly for this post.

The Rick Rickert was spotted sitting two rows behind the Golden Gopher bench at tonight’s first round NIT game against Maryland.  Rickert was seen applauding for his former team and discussing his NBA career stats…  He was accompanied by his too-good-for-him wife.  Also in attendance were Jeff Hagen (former Gopher big guy) and Pete Carlson (fellow CSOM alumus).

Rickety Rickerts NCAA Bracket Record: 1-0

Added Thought: Dan Coleman, the supposed senior leader of this years Gophers BBall squad, was a HUGE disappointment.  In the last 3 games of the season, he averaged 18 minutes, 4 points, 3 rebounds, and fouled out of 2 of the 3 games.  I hope he earned a degree during his time here, he’s going to need it.

2008 MLB Predictions

895c7544-6988-4176-b687-935a72fb5250.jpg

Well, it’s that time of year again….baseball season.  I thought I’d throw out my 2008 predictions (note, I don’t know much about NL teams being my favorite team, the Twins, play in the AL, but I’ll take a stab at it nonetheless).   Sorry for taking so long to make a post (I know most of you were just dying waiting for another Flash blog) but I was in Arizona for a few days last week.  Today I’ll look at the AL Central.

AL Central

1.  Detroit Tigers – Too much firepower from that line-up.  It’ll be interesting to see how that bullpen holds up over the course of the year; if there’s an achilles heal, that’s it.  Come on, TODD JONES???

2.  Cleveland Indians* – GM has done a nice job assembling this team.  Keep in mind, Cleveland was only a game away from the World Series last year.  One of the keys will be how Carmona comes off his phenomenal 2007 campaign.

3.  Chicago White Sox – I give the nod to Chicago for the 3rd spot because of a little (I mean a lot) more experience in their rotation than MN and KC and a more balanced line-up 1 through 9.  By the way, who knew Jim Thome was 37 years old?  Not me.

4.  Minnesota Twins – As much as it pains me to put my own team here, I have to be honest with myself.  Whenever a team is trotting out Livan Hernandez as its opening day starter (which all signs are pointing toward that happening) there is going to be trouble.  He won’t last 3 innings against the Angels opening day.  Add to that that Liriano looks human after his Tommy John surgery, Scotty Baker “The Outmaker” has a sore shoulder, and Boof, well he’s still Boof.  The Twins should also expect no immediate help from the Johan Santana trade as it appears Carlos Gomez is still going to struggle to get on base and the three pitchers obtained are all projects.  I do think Delmon Young will have a big year hitting behind Mauer, Cuddyer and Morneau, but the rest of that line-up is atrosius.  Look for about 75-80 wins.  This team may even have to fight with KC for the 5th spot.

5.  Kansas City Royals – Do I really have to write anything here?  Quick, name a KC player.  HA!  Gotcha!

*Denotes the Wild Card

Tomorrow I’ll look at the AL East.  Being Boston and NY will be in the discussion, there should be some national media coverage.  Hang on, I think that’s ESPN now….

There are very, very few things that Rickert knows.
1. How to find a hot wife.
2. How to fail in the NBA
3. How to fill out college basketball brackets.

I’ve analyzed the field and finalized my bracket.  This is the year that I will win all the money.

The 2008 NCAA National Champion: Tennessee Volunteers
(yes, Rick Rickert knows how to spell Tennessee)

Rick Rickert’s Full 2008 Bracket is here.

theFlash’s 2008 losing bracket will be posted manana.

I think this deserves to be commented on.

Article for MSNBC

  • At least 1 in every 4 teenage girls between the ages of 14 and 19 have at least 1 STD
  • Nearly half of all black girls in the study had an STD
  • Half of the girls in the study claimed to be sexually active.  Among them, 40% have an STD.  HALF OF SEXUALLY ACTIVE 14 to 19 YEAR OLDS HAVE AVE STD!

Thank you Jesus that I do not have a 14 to 19 year old daughter or a 16 to 20 year old son.  I also thank you for birthing me in 1983 so that I am plenty of years way from 14 to 19 year olds.  My god, I would be scared out of my F’n mind.   I’m also glad I’m not Mark Chmura.

It’s Actually Funny

I was never a Garfield fan while growing up.  I never thought he was funny.  But recently, I was shown a website that removes Garfield from the comic strip completely…..and it’s actually funny.  It makes Jon Arbuckle look like a complete nut job.  Enjoy.

Once a year that special day rolls around.

As a kid I remember looking forward to my birthday at least two weeks before the day finally, ever so slowly arrived. Aside from all the gifts, I looked forward to being with all my friends and playing games……and hearing my name read by Mr. Dish over the Pioneer Elementary PA system.

But what is a birthday without friends, right?

Unlike the days of my youth, I know have to think long and hard to remember how old I am when people ask.  At times I just can not fathom that I am now 25 years old.

This year, I look forward to seeing everybody on Saturday night.  I’m looking forward to the crazy night of fun and I hope everybody will have a great time.

I’ll end with a great up and coming website.  I’m sure most people have seen My New Haircut on YouTube.  Or pics of idiots from Jersey.  But to continue on the theme of Jersey looking/acting tools, someone has started a blog called Hot Chicks with Douchebags,  what a clever name.  It analyzes pictures that feature women and the tools they hang out with, and helps others get a better understanding of this inhumane culture and lifestyle.  Due to immense popularity, the site is currently down, so it can be viewed here for now.

Today is a great day!!!!

09000d5d8062155a_gallery_600.jpg09000d5d8062155a_gallery_600.jpg

Brett Favre is done.  HOORAY!!!  I can’t believe it finally happened.  I am so happy right now.  Once we get by the two week ode to Favre on EVERY sports channel,  his time in the spotlight will be over.  And it couldn’t have come soon enough.  I was ready to boycott the Super Bowl until the Giants gave me an early b-day present.  I don’t think I could of survived two straight weeks of Favre coverage.  I get so sick and tired of hearing about Favre this and Favre that.  Note to ESPN, I don’t need an update every week as to what Favre has been doing with his time in the offseason.  I don’t care if he was hunting in Mississippi.  Let the Aaron Rodgers era begin.  Good luck with that….GO VIKES!

The best part about Favre retiring now is that his last pass in the NFL was intercepted.  Kind of fitting for the game’s all-time interception leader.  I wonder if Green Bay has shut down for the day?  Or the whole state of Wisconsin for that matter?  Are there going to be candles lit at Lambeau?  I’m sure ESPN will be the first to report it if there are.

It’s so hard to express my jubilation on paper….this is the best I could do and it doesn’t do my feelings any justice.  During this past season, I heard some Packers fans complaining about the exposure Adrian Peterson was getting and that they were tired of hearing about him.  Well I can only hope that this exposure continues and gets even worse.  Then all Packers fans can know at least a tiny, tiny bit as to what all Vikings fans have been going through the last decade+.

I’m out.  So long Brett…don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
