So I go to ESPN today and see that Jay Cutler is now being actively shopped by the Broncos. The Vikings better get their cards on the table and offer as much as they can. It is not everyday that a 25 year old Pro Bowl QB becomes available in a trade. Yeah, I know he hasn’t won anything yet and was a contributor in the Broncos collapse and Mike Shannahan subsequent firing, but here are three key reasons why the Vikings need to offer their first and third round picks (if that is enough).
1. Cutler is a NO-BRAIN UPGRADE over TJack and Sage Rosensucks.
2. AD and Cutler for 10 years sounds amazing. Imagine the running lanes that would become available with an above average QB behind center.
3. Whether or not the front office wants to admit it, the Vikes are built to win now. That is not going to happen with TJack or Rosenfels. Pat and Kevin Williams are getting older. ‘Toine just had his best year, but the guy will be 33 next year. Chester Taylor will be gone after this year (AD still needs a complement, that is the NFL nowadays). Our draft picks have been poor the last several years leaving our depth hurting; yes I know we have to give up more picks for Cutler, but he is a Pro-Bowler, kind of like the Allen trade last year.

  1. They need defense. Give them Greenway and a draft pick.
