OSHKOSH — The ‘tire vampire’ has struck in Oshkosh.

Oshkosh police are investigating an incident in which two tires were punctured on a woman’s car, with a note left on the windshield that read: “You drive like … Enjoy the flats, moron. Slice and dice from the tire vampire.”

Police Sgt. Steve Sagmeister said police received a call from the woman at 2:22 p.m. Monday after she noticed the front and rear tires on the passenger side of her car were punctured. The woman told police she noticed the flat tires while the vehicle was parked in the 400 block of Congress Avenue.

“The woman had been on a couple of errands on the north side of Oshkosh and then she noticed the tires had been punctured,” Sagmeister said.

He said police do not know what precipitated the incident, but authorities believe it to be a random act. Sagmeister said police have not received any similar complaints.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Oshkosh Police Department at (920) 236-5700 or the Winnebago County Wide Crime Stoppers at (800) 621-2274.
