RULES
Every entrant must submit a list of ten celebrities who they believe will pass away before midnight on 31st December 2009.
All chosen celebrities must be human and must be real people (ie no characters from soaps or film)
All chosen celebrities must be named in the entry (ie no entires of Pope What’s-his-name or “the oldest man in the world”) – If they are a celebrity who is not likely to be recognised by the majority of the entrants, please add a simple not to explain who (s)he is (ie “Margaret Thatcher – ex-British Prime Minister”).
Anyone caught murdering their target will be sent to bed without any supper and will not receive their Death Pool points (and you may also face up to life imprisonment or even the death penalty depending on where you live). Other entrants will receive their points as normal.
You can not pick people on death row, not the record label, but people who are sentenced to death.
You can not pick people on the FBI Most Wanted list, unless they were famous before getting on the list.
In order to qualify as a celebrity, the entrant must be famous enough to get an obituary in a major British/American newspaper or on the BBC website upon their death.
Tie Breakers: In case of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker — whoever has chosen the most amount of deceased celebrities. If two players tie for first with the same players, they will split the entire pot. If two players still tie for second, they will split the second place pot.
HOW TO SCORE POINTS
When a person dies, anyone who has nominated them in their list will receive 100 points minus the age of the person when they die (ie, a 50 year old will be worth 50 points, a 60 year old 40 points etc). A 100+ year old is worth 1 point.
Bonus Points:
+5 if you are the only person to pick the deceased.
+10 if the celeb dies on their birthday, anniversary, or a holiday.
+10 if the celeb is African American and passes in February.
+20 if the celeb is a sports figure and dies competing.
+25 if your first listed celebrity dies first. Points double if your 2nd list celeb dies 2nd, and so on.

[...] Hey-yo, 2009 is only 15 days away, and that means that our 2008 Death Pool is nearly done. Since we had a limited number of entrants actually make the entry fee payment, and executive decision was made to roll-over the 2008 entry fees in the 2009 Death Pool. Hopefully this year we can get some more people to make the entry fee before the last month. Go here for the rules. [...]
