The latter is a song about him getting with a girl who already has a man, using said girl to deliver drugs, and then moving on when he knows the situation with the girl won’t work out.  He uses much stronger language to tell this story, but the message is basically the same.  DMX’s first album has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.  Impressive.

DMX released a second album in 1998, this one entitled Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood. And as everyone knows, this album contained the hit song Slippin. This is a great song.  Oddly enough though, I prefer the edited version to the explicit version.  There’s just something about the cursing that doesn’t flow well with the song.  Wikipedia fact: Slippin remained censored on the uncensored version of the album.  DMX’s second album on 1998 also reached #1 on Billboard and has gone 3 times platinum.

Of course Slippin samples a jazz/funk beat.  Grover Washington Jr. won the title for Sexiest Album Cover in 1975 for his Feels So Good album.  Check out that mat of chest hair.  Moonstreams from that album was used for the Slippin beat, you can hear it start around 20 seconds in.  Moonstreams is a decent song.  Very slow.  Mellow.  Chill.  This song was also sampled by a female in the Motown era, but I can’t find what song it is.  And now that is bugging me.

Today you’re also getting Taana Gardner’s Heartbeat. Why? DMX sampled it on It’s All Good, great song.  “It’s all good, it’s alright.  F$%# all day, F$%# all night.”  What a lyricist.  Anyway, this Taana Gardner track has been sampled by everybody.  Can you guess what other one-hit wonder pop/rap reggae song used this beat?  Ini Kamoze’s Hotstepper!

Hopefully the following video still works.  It’s the lead single off the next Kid Cudi album Erase Me. Is this song on the radio yet?  I have no idea.  I’ll post it anyways.

Leading us off is Duece Poppi’s White Friends.  We all have white friends and we love them, so this is a song dedicated to your white friends.  Catchy….not too annoying.  In case the video gets pulled, here’s the link to the official music video, which you should probably watch anyways.  Don’t forget the remix, Fat Friends.

The next song comes from The Pack and is a classy joint called Titties.  I guess this would be considered a club banger.  I would classify as annoying.

Our third song comes from Jae Millz, who Bill Simmons says is the only person reviving gangster rap.  You Can’t Teach Me How to Dougie (remix of Teach You How to Dougie) seems to be a song revolting against the “dougie” revolution.  I don’t dougie.  You shouldn’t dougie.  I don’t wear skinny jeans.  You shouldn’t wear skinny jeans if you’re a guy.  “I’m from Harlem, bet your girl and side bitch love me”

Our last song from this weekend will be a remix of Travis McCoy’s Billionaire. The Party Rock Remix features LMFAO and Gucci Mane.  I like the remix because of the beat, but mostly because of the 2nd verse.  Verse two gives us three great lines:

1) She blow like a woodwind, didgeridoo

2) Now I got her head mmmbop’ing like Hansen.

3) I’ll buy all the fatty fats P90X
